While Buck and Wilma pay a visit to Space Station Theta, a derelict spaceship called the I.S. Demeter suddenly collides with the station. Buck investigates the vessel and finds that every member of the ship’s crew is apparently dead; while the bodies are brought on board the station for examination by Doctor Ecbar, investigation of the ship's logs shows that the virus EL-7 was believed to be the cause of the deaths. However, Ecbar discovers that the victims are not dead, but are actually in a state of cellular suspension. Buck soon learns that the crew were attacked by a vampire-like creature known as the Vorvon, but when he tries to warn the station’s Commander Royko, his claims are dismissed as wild fantasy. Then the Vorvon appears on the station and begins to systematically attack its personnel – and the creature’s next target is Wilma…
